Fallen Princesses and the REAL barbie!! Dina has some cool work, very clever. The Barbie series is fantastic!

Joel Peter Witkin

This guy produced some of the most amazing, high contrast ,black and white photography I have ever seen! He is so bizarre and unconventional, there are virtually none like him.

Chad Michael ward- Beautiful lighting and color!! These photos are gorgeous! He is one of my favorites and I highly recommend looking at the rest of his stuff!

Portraits of unrelated Doppelgangers who have found their match!

Fascinated with the idea that two totally unrelated people can look like twins, photographer Francois Brunelle set out to take portraits of 200 doppelgangers. This beautiful black and white series began when he photographed a pair of friends who looked as though they were identical twins that had been separated at birth. Although most of his photos so far have been taken in North America, Brunelle is now taking his I’m Not a Look-Alike! project around the globe to create a book and international exhibit. He has already been looking for look-alikes in Australia!
On his website, Brunelle explains:
The project is about looking like other people. The fact that two persons, totally unrelated to each other, sometimes born in different countries, share the same physical appearance is really the essence of the project.
Check out more doppelganger portraits and stay tuned as Brunelle approaches his goal of photographing 200 pairs on his website and Facebook. If Sophie Robhemed, the journalist on the hunt for her doppelganger, has met her match, she should reach out to Francois Brunelle for a photo shoot.

Welome Back!

Hi 2Aer's!! Welcome to the Photography 2A blog for the Fall of 2013.

Here will be a place where you will be able to share artists, information, exhibitions that you know, love and influence or inspire you!

Recently, I came across this young australian artist who is Nirrimi Hakanson
Nirrimi Hakanson, b. 1992, Australia is a very young photographer who started with photography at age 13. She is very productive, which is visible when looking at the various websites she has, including herweblog filled with amazing images and personal stories of her photographic life. Nirrimi has already done the winter campaign for Diesel in New York. Her work is fresh, youthfull and sexy, but at the same time they are very mature and professional. The following images come from her portfolio's For LoveFor Living and For Money.

Architecture of Density

Michael Wolf's series Architecture of Density captures the dense living conditions of Hong Kong.

Cloudscapes by Carolyn Marks Blackwood

Fine art photographer Carolyn Markes Blackwood shot these images in the Hudson Valley where she lives. Such a gorgeous series! Check out more of her work on her website.

Glenn ligon yah bishhh

Glenn ligon is probably labeled as a multi-disciplinary artist, works in a lot of different mediums. Mostly address the idea of identity when referring to race.

Nick @ Knight-hahaha see what I did there? No? Ok

Knight is the name!!!Nick knight is a fashion photographer. Works with gaga a lot. I find his work interesting because its going beyond the commercial aspects and dealing with issues of identity, regarding sexual preference.

Portraits of Boston

Similar to my post about Humans of New York... here we have Portraits of Boston.

Heres a link to a photo blog that i follow on tumblr.

He does a lot of street photography a long with some commercial work. Overall there is a wide variety of subject matter within his images.
Inspiring work, but also just something new for your dashboard!

Riitta Päiväläinen

"Finnish photographer Riitta Päiväläinen uses discarded clothing from second-hand shops and flea markets to carry silent, unknown stories and histories.  By freezing the garment or letting the wind fill it with air, she is able to create a sculptural space, which reminds her of its former user.
“The unavoidable fact that I will never know the actual story and personal histories connected with the clothes arouses my curiosity. The clothes remain silent, withholding their secrets. Little by little, personal histories are absorbed into the collective history.” "

-it's an interesting concept, and I love the accompanying images:
