Philip Halsman

Yesterday, someone in the class mentioned the Photographer Philippe Halsman, who actually studied to be an engineer, designed his own 4x5 camera with twin lens reflex that he used for portraits.

Some of Halsman's photographs are unforgettable because he had his subjects 'jump' and also because he was able to use flash to 'freeze' motion in the studio.
